Modular Breakroom for Employee Well-Being
A Practical Breakroom Designed for the People Who Use It
Manufacturing and construction-like work environments expose employees to heat, noise, and physical demands that make it difficult to truly rest during the workday, especially in extreme temperatures like the Texas heat.
Falcon Structures faces these same conditions in its own production operation and needed a larger, dedicated breakroom where employees could step away from the floor and return rested, focused, and safe.
Without an adequate place to cool down and recover, prolonged exposure to heat and noise can lead to exhaustion, heat-related illness, and dissatisfaction over time. Leadership set out to address those risks with a solution that was practical, durable, and suited to an active production environment.
Key Challenges
Supporting Workers in a Harsh Environment
- Extreme heat: Texas summers regularlypush outdoor working conditions to uncomfortable or unsafe levels.
- Proximity to production: Existing spaceswere too close to noise and activity to provide meaningful rest.
- Growing team needs: The production teamrequired a larger breakroom that could accommodate more employees comfortably.
- Durability expectations: Any solution needed to withstand daily use in an industrial setting without excessive maintenance.
A Breakroom Designed for Real Recovery
To address these challenges, the team created a 40-foot double-wide container breakroom within easy walking distance of the production floor. Two modified containers were joined to form a single, open interior that supports both group and individual breaks without sacrificing comfort.
The structure was fully insulated with spray foam and equipped with a two-ton Bard HVAC unit sized for Texas heat, providing consistent temperature control during peak summer conditions. Interior finishes were selected for durability and ease of maintenance, while still creating a space that felt intentional rather than temporary.
The Solution
