Container Locker Rooms Transform Working Conditions at Agriculture Plant

Container Locker Rooms for Remote Mill

Hi-Pro Feeds produces and distributes animal feed for livestock. Their mills in rural Texas and Oklahoma are large industrial environments, unairconditioned and often dusty from processing grain and other raw materials. However, workers at their Comanche, Texas location had only a small, barely air-conditioned shed for a locker room. Hi-Pro wanted to do better by their employees.

Key Challenges

Rural Location & Unavailable Contractors

For two years, Hi-Pro looked for a contractor to build a locker room at their Comanche mill site. The town’s rural location (over 100 miles from Dallas, the nearest metropolitan area) made it difficult to find a contractor, let alone break ground. Meanwhile, employees continued to try and cool off and store belongings in a prefabricated shed with a small window unit, wondering when they’d get the locker room the company promised them. After reaching out to numerous general contractors, many of whom declined or never followed up, Hi-Pro considered an offsite build that could be delivered to their rural plant.

Modular Locker Rooms Built Offsite

Hi-Pro and Falcon Structures teamed up to create a total of three locker rooms. They included showers, toilets, space for workers to store personal belongings, and climate control. Speed was an important factor in choosing containers, but durability and portability were, too. Hi-Pro can pick up and move the container locker rooms to another site if needed, and they expect the containers to serve them well for years.

Employees now use their container locker rooms as opposed to the old shed. They can shower after working in a dusty agriculture environment and store their belongings in lockers. A few office employees have even snuck in to use the new container restrooms. After literal years of struggling to get a commercial builder to their remote part of central Texas, Hi-Pro finally has the facilities that meet their new standard of employee care.
