Waiting to Break Ground: Transitional Container Solution
YMCA Camp Moody’s Multi-Purpose Modular Workspace
YMCA Camp Moody outside of Austin, Texas has a sprawling site. When young campers flood the property during the busy summer months, YMCA employees often spend the majority of their days on the far edge of the acreage near the outdoor activities - and far from any climate-controlled amenities.

Key Challenges
No Facility Near Camp Activities
While the camp plans to build structures on the far side of their property, it’s not happening any time soon. Traditional construction, especially when planned in phases, can take years to complete. Until then, camp counselors needed a workspace hub to take care of administrative tasks, safely store equipment, and care for campers while in the remote part of Camp Moody’s property. To meet the need for durability, portability, and timeliness, they went with containers.
A Relocatable, Multi-Use Space
Camp Moody prioritized a multi-purpose workspace container to meet the needs of their campers, counselors, and safety protocols. They chose a 40-foot dual office floor plan modified to include:
- Office area with room for desks and computers, as well as extra windows on either side of the container to keep an eye on campers
- Temperature-controlled equipment storage with an exterior roll-up door for easy access
- A small private room intended as a first aid station
- Climate control throughout to keep workers comfortable and cool off any overheated campers
While the camp waits for further facility expansion, they have a comfortable and durable structure solution to keep employees comfortable and keep operations running smoothly.
The Solution
From The Customer
“We now have a temporary space we can move around as our camp grows. It puts us closer to our staff onsite so they’re able to reach us if they have emergencies or questions. And we also use it as a first aid hub for our campers. This container has been absolutely fantastic.”
