Why We’re Listing Container Prices on our New Website
Paige Welsh | Jun 19, 2019
We have a new look, but beyond our aesthetic overhaul, including a new logo, the biggest change is more subtle. We’re listing our prices for over thirty standard floor plans with their specs. While other players in the container-based structures industry list some pricing, usually estimated ranges or rental rates, we’re the first to put definitive numbers on an entire product line. Like any first, this choice comes with some risks, but we think price transparency is part of solving a serious problem in the construction industry. In the age of Amazon and eCommerce, it’s time customers looking to build structures have the confidence in their budgets.
Construction projects, even as simple as a kitchen renovation, are notorious for going over budget. According to McKinsey & Company, “Large projects across asset classes typically take 20 percent longer to finish than scheduled and are up to 80 percent over budget.”
While a price quote may represent a best-case scenario, Murphy’s law throws a wrench in the best laid plans. Labor may be difficult to find. Weather can destroy materials. Theft and vandalism add delays. Conditions specific to the job site may require crews to alter their plans.
Modular, shipping-container based structures remove most of these unpredictable factors. By manufacturing container modules in our plant, we can confidently predict our costs. In fact, we’ve built our standard floor plans so often, we’re comfortable posting the price.
We understand that it can be tiresome to call or submit a form only to discover the quote doesn’t fit your budget. It’s more respectful of your time to let you look at the list price and make a decision about whether to proceed. Unique projects will always require a custom quote, but we hope this move will send a message: let customers build with confidence.
We’ve overhauled the website to make it easier for visitors to access our educational resources. Whenever you have a minute, check out the resources page. The searchable library will make finding eBooks, blogs, and case studies relevant to your project simple.
Lastly, we want to say thank you. These improvements were inspired by your feedback. Support from our customers and business partners makes our vision for shipping container-based structure industry possible. Let us know what you think. We love hearing from you.
